San Diego – New Homes Pre-wired for Solar Panels

New homes in San Diego County must now be pre-wired to accept rooftop solar panels and electric vehicle charger

Pre-wiring new homes to support solar panels and an electric vehicle charger — costs less than adding residential solar panels and residential electric vehicle charger wiring after the home is built.

Palo Alto, California was the first jurisdiction in the state to require solar panels and electric vehicle charger pre-wiring for new homes.

Other communities in the United States will soon follow and there is every opportunity that other jurisdictions around the world will follow California’s example.
